Sheffield - A City on the Move
Sheffield, no longer the city of cloth caps and the
Full Monty, is now a thriving cosmopolitan centre offering a rich variety
of shops, bars, cafes and restaurants.
England’s fourth largest city, Sheffield has a vibrant student population
with over 50,000 students studying at two well respected universities.
It is also home to a diverse balance of manufacturing and service industries,
strategic government departments and has recently been further enhanced
by the emergence of internationally renowned and dynamic creative and music
industries.
West Bar The West Bar area is a small part of the new energy
that is flowing into Sheffield. Exciting residential developments, established
business districts and historical city streets are all on the doorstep,
along with the transport links to access the city and beyond.
The development is situated on the edge of Sheffield business district,
with a mix of solicitors, law courts, accountants and the main HSBC building.
The expansion of this area has included the relocation of The Home Office
(100,000 sq ft) and new businesses such as Plus Net.
The site is surrounded by the new Inner Ring Road which was a key part
of the Sheffield Masterplan, now giving ease of access to the Sheffield
Parkway and the M1 motorway.
Situated close to the city centre, 137 West Bar will benefit from shopping
amenties with the advent of the city’s new Retail Quarter, and a diverse
mix of hip little boutiques gracing the Devonshire Quarter. Entertainment
comes in the form of theatres, cinemas or one of the many new restaurants,
bars and famous clubs. We believe the site is located in the ideal environment
for the typical end user - the professional tenant.
The future The Castlemore scheme
based across from the 137 West Bar site is a proposed 7.5 acre development
and regeneration project to extend and revitalize Sheffield’s
city centre. It will create 900,000sq ft of office space, 115,000sq ft
of retail and leisure units and 750 apartments, as well as attracting
a major food retailer and a 240-bed hotel. First-class accommodation for 500
students will also be housed on-site. The development site - which is currently
a mixture of vacant land and car parks - borders West Bar, Corporation
Street and Bridge Street to the north of the city centre.
